Research topic: “Application of Nano-Metal Particle to Enhance Heavy-Oil Recovery in the Late Stages of Cyclic Steam Stimulation"
The focus of this study is to observe the effect of nano-metal particles in enhancing oil recovery during the cyclic steam stimulation (CSS) process. The experiments will be first conducted by premixing nano metal particle with oil sand to determine the optimum concentration, effect of temperature, effect of particle penetration depth, and the change of water production. Then, optimum surfactant-polymer concentration solution (stable solution used to transport nickel particles) will be determined, and the best injection schemes like time to introduce nickel particles, will be investigated and compared with the premixing cases through experiments. Using GC analysis to analyze the produced gas and oil compositions, this study will help to improve the understanding of the mechanism during the process.
